Steroid and Local Anaesthetic Injections

These injections provide rapid relief from pain and inflammation in the knee, making them effective for acute flare-ups of osteoarthritis or tendonitis. The addition of local anaesthetic offers immediate comfort. However, repeated use can increase the risk of local tissue damage and infection, and long-term overuse may harm joint structures.

Hyaluronic Acid (Ostenil)

Hyaluronic acid acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in the joint, offering a non-steroidal alternative to relieve osteoarthritis symptoms and improve mobility. The effects are typically temporary, lasting for several months, and mild swelling can occur at the injection site.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP injections use a concentration of the patient’s own blood platelets to promote tissue healing and reduce inflammation. They are generally well-tolerated with a low risk of allergic reaction. However, improvement is gradual and may take weeks, with occasional discomfort at the injection site. Ideal for Tendon related matters and early osteoarthritis.

Arthrosamid

Arthrosamid is a long-lasting injectable hydrogel for knee osteoarthritis, shown to deliver sustained pain relief and improved joint function for up to 12 months. It also has anti-inflammatory effects, as seen by upregulation of IL1-RA in joint fluid. Most side effects are mild, such as joint pain and swelling.
